BASIC PISTOL CLASS
The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. Course topics include: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship, and shooting range safety. Additionally, students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor. Students will receive the NRA Guide: Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination and receive a course completion certificate bearing the signature of the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor. This is a qualifying course to receive your license to carry firearms in the state of Connecticut, Massachusetts or New York.

If you are new to shooting, just received your permit to carry or if it has been a while since you last handled or practiced shooting with your firearm, this might be the course for you. This course offers a hands-on refresher on the safe handling and proper operation of your firearm. Our certified pistol instructors will provide level appropriate training for each student to advance their knowledge, comfort and confidence with their handgun. This session offers both classroom and shooting range time.
BASIC REFRESHER COURSE
Red dot optics allow the shooter the benefit of placing a “red dot” on the target at the place on which you want the bullet to impact. This session offers introductory exposure to various types of optics and allows students to shoot different types of “red dot” optics on various calibers of guns.
This class does not require the participant to have a pistol permit. However, it does require that the attendant has taken a basic pistol course. Participants will shoot significantly more ammunition during these events than in their basic pistol classes. Each class will begin with a review of basic rules and practices of gun safety before transitioning to live fire training
INTRO TO
"RED DOT" OPTICS
Pistol-caliber carbines and “others” are increasing as home-defense leveraged firearms. They are also just a lot of fun to shoot at the range. They come in a wide variety of styles and fire a wide range of ammunition. During this class, we’ll explore various options and provide a shooting experience with this classification of guns.
This class does not require the participant to have a pistol permit. However, it does require that the attendant has taken a basic pistol course. INTRO TO PC CARBINES
&"OTHER" GUNS
Some persons operate better in or prefer an individualized learning environment. If you seek private 1-on-1 training or private small group training to either learn the basic fundamentals of shooting or increase your shooting proficiency, this method may be ideal for you. Private instruction offers a personalized experience tailored to your specific needs either in the classroom or at the gun range itself.
PRIVATE INSTRUCTION
This is a non-shooting course and teaches students the basic knowledge, skills, and explains the attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in the home. This is a four-hour course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling; primary causes of firearms accidents; firearm parts; how to unload certain action types; ammunition components; cleaning; care; safe storage of firearms in the home; and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports. Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, course completion certificate.
HOME SAFETY CLASS
Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense. This is an eight-hour course. Students should expect to shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection In The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, and course completion certificate.
